Test God
If you chose to make a New Year Resolution, you may already be asking yourself if it was worth the change. Temptation is greatest when we try to change our lives to follow God, and this year will be no different. If you are wondering if God will fulfill His promise to help you and to bless you, then go ahead and test God.
Today is the commemoration of the Prophet Malachi, the final prophet among the prophets of the Old Testament. Saint John the Baptist is considered the final prophet before Christ, but his story is in the New Testament. The reason I love the Prophet Malachi is because he gave me permission to test God.
This verse is among the verses in Scripture that changed my life. I had never before been given permission to test God’s promise. When was the last time you heard the Church say, “You don’t believe me? Go ahead and test God’s promise?” I have trusted Him ever since.
It isn’t that I am not tested and don’t fail miserably sometimes. I do. At the end of every failure, I look back and realize God ‘did it again.’ He always comes though for me. So, take a chance on God and resolve to Live A New Life In Christ this year. Go ahead and test God. See if He won’t be there every step of the way to bless you more than you can handle.
Take a few moments today and read the Book of Malachi. It isn’t long and you won’t be disappointed.
