Through Security and Ready to Board

You never know what to expect when you’re traveling. This morning, I got a late start thanks to the snooze button, and there was a bit of traffic, but by God’s grace, I was able to check in and get through security quickly, and still have time for a cup of coffee. People have asked me what I’m looking forward to, but I still have no answer. In fact, I’m fighting the temptation to have “any” expectation, I think so I won’t be disappointed. Nonetheless, I’m quite excited to be on this journey. I’ve never been to the Holy Lands, but God physically walked on the ground there. It is bound to be an inspiration. The closest thing I can compare it to was my first (and only trip) to Greece. I remember feeling a profound sense of awe when I realized that I was standing in the same place where the Saints walked and preached. I suspect I will have a similar experience, yet greater…

Today and tomorrow are travel days. They will be days for resting, wondering, dreaming, and reading. I have a copy of Egeria’s Diary, which chronicles her pilgrimage from the late 4th Century. Her words have inspired centuries of Christians and informed historians with a glimpse of ancient Christian worship and life, not to mention architecture. I pray my blog and live broadcasts will in some small way be a blessing to you, and maybe inspire you to take your own pilgrimage some day.

Next stop…..the Holy Lands!
