Signs pointing to lies and truth.

Truth is not Subjective

Music can be defined as a series and combination of sounds pleasing to the ear. Music is subjective. What is a masterpiece to one, is garbage music to another. Nonetheless, music brings joy to every human being.

The same can be said about God, but for a different reason. Some love God while others think He is vengeful and cruel. The difference is that God is not subjective. He is good. He is love. He is real. If we don’t love Him, He is still a good God. It is tempting to think of God as subjective.

The devil has been tempting us with this lie since the beginning. Remember the first lie? “Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’” (Genesis 3.4-5)

Thinking the truth of God is subjective leads to death, plain and simple. We should learn from Adam and Eve. When God says something, He means it. One important thing He said was that the Holy Spirit would come and guide the Apostles into the whole truth.

This coming Sunday, the Church commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Since that moment, every human being had access to the whole truth of God, presented by the Holy Spirit, and maintained by the Church.

We may not be able to trust a random music critic, but we can trust the Church. Just a friendly reminder today as we prepare to celebrate the Holy Spirit.
