Does Your Life Convert Others to Christ?
What do people see when you watch you walk down the street, or face difficulties in your life? Do they see someone who grumbles or someone who praises God? What do people think of your response to life’s ‘ups and downs’ when they see you in the marketplace?
Today is the Feast of Saint Christopher who is know for being the inspiration for many to convert even before he himself was baptized. There are many stories of saints who inspired others to believe, but most of them were because of miracles. In his case, it was his love for God.
We put too much attention into miracles. We want to witness them, and we want to experience them in our lives. If every baptism was the result of miracles, there would be very few Christians in the world. Miracles are wonders exactly because they are rare and unexplainable.
Remember back to the words of Christ when He appeared to Thomas. “Blessed are those who believe who have not seen.” (John 20.29) Christ wasn’t only speaking about seeing Him. He was speaking about faith to believe without any ‘evidence’ to convince us.
We may not be able to perform miracles, but we can be witnesses to faith. People may not be able to see the physical Christ, but they can see our faith in our life, but only if we live as if we believe in Christ.
My invitation for you today is to remember you are being watched. Your friends and family are watching you. Your co-workers are watching. Even total strangers are watching you. Will they see your faith in Christ today and be inspired to consider His place in their heart?
